GLOW PLUGS FOR THE 70 SERIES DIESEL
HARD STARTS AND ROUGH IDLES POINT TO GLOW PLUGS
When a diesel 70 Series starts taking longer to fire on cold mornings, idles rough until the engine warms up, or runs noticeably smoky at startup, the glow plugs are usually the cause. Glow plugs heat the combustion chamber before the engine fires to help diesel ignite at low cylinder temperatures. After enough cycles the heating element burns out, and once one or two plugs are down, cold starting becomes a real problem. Replacement glow plugs restore proper cold-start function immediately. They are a routine service item and should be replaced as a full set rather than one at a time.
OEM-SPEC ELEMENTS WITH MATCHED RATINGS
The glow plugs in this collection are OEM-spec replacements rated to the original Toyota service specifications. Each set ships as a complete 6-piece set for the inline-six diesel engines, with matched element ratings so all cylinders heat evenly. The thread pattern and reach are precise to the engine block dimensions so the plug seats properly without leaks. Glow plug controllers (the relay that sends voltage to the plugs during the warm-up cycle) are also available as replacement parts where the original controller has failed alongside the plugs.
FITS 1HZ, 2H, 1HD-FTE, AND VARIOUS DIESEL VARIANTS
Glow plugs are matched to the specific diesel engine code. The 1HZ in the 75, 78, 79, 80, and 100 Series uses one specification. The earlier 2H in the HJ60 and HJ75 uses another. The 1HD-FTE turbo diesel uses a third. Each listing confirms exact engine code and year range before you order. The 1VD-FTV V8 and 1GD-FTV 2.8L use different glow plug technology that is also covered in this range where applicable. Replacement is a workshop job that takes around an hour with the right glow plug socket.
