EGR BLANKING PLATES FOR THE 70 SERIES

STOP THE EGR LOOP CHOKING THE INTAKE

The factory exhaust gas recirculation system on a diesel 70 Series feeds a portion of exhaust gas back into the intake to lower combustion temperatures and meet emissions standards. Over time, the EGR loop is a major contributor to intake carbon buildup, with soot from the exhaust mixing with oil vapour in the intake and forming a sticky residue that chokes the inlet manifold, sticks injectors, and reduces airflow. An EGR blanking plate physically blocks the EGR feed at the inlet manifold, stopping the carbon mixing process at the source. Note that EGR blanking is typically used on off-road vehicles where emissions compliance is not a concern.

STAINLESS STEEL PLATES, OEM-SPEC GASKET FACES

Each EGR blanking plate is laser cut from stainless steel sized exactly to the EGR flange dimensions on the specific engine. The plate seals against the original EGR gasket position so no additional gaskets or sealants are required for fitment. Mounting uses the existing flange bolts that originally held the EGR pipe in place. Installation is a straightforward bolt-on job that takes under fifteen minutes once the engine cover is removed. The blanking plate can be removed and the EGR system restored if the vehicle ever needs to pass an emissions inspection.

SUITS V8 AND 1HZ DIESEL ENGINES

EGR blanking plates are matched to the specific engine. The 1VD-FTV V8 and the 1HZ diesel use different EGR flange dimensions and need plates cut to suit each. The new 1GD-FTV 2.8L diesel also has an EGR system but the blanking plate may affect DPF regeneration and is not recommended on DPF-equipped vehicles. Each listing confirms exact engine code, year range, and emissions setup before you order. Often fitted alongside an oil catch can to further reduce intake fouling on heavily-driven vehicles.
