DEFLECT STONE CHIPS OFF THE 79 BONNET
STONE CHIPS ARE EXPENSIVE TO FIX
The bonnet on a 79 sits wide and flat, a perfect target for every stone, bug, and bit of debris the tyres in front of you throw up at highway speed. Every chip that gets through cracks the clear coat, exposes bare metal, and sets the rust clock ticking. On a vehicle that spends real time on unsealed roads, the bonnet ends up looking like a buckshot target within a few years. A tinted acrylic bonnet protector redirects the airflow upward, deflecting stones and debris up and over the windscreen instead of into the paint. It is one of the cheapest forms of paint insurance you can fit.
TINTED ACRYLIC THAT LOOKS THE PART
Our bonnet protectors are moulded from tough impact-modified acrylic with a dark tinted finish that gives the front end a clean, aggressive look while hiding bug splatter and minor surface marks between washes. The acrylic is UV-stabilised so it stays consistent in colour and material strength year after year without going cloudy, brittle, or yellow. Each protector is precision moulded for the exact bonnet contours of the 79 generation it suits, sitting flush against the bonnet with no gaps and no vibration. Installation uses supplied mounting hardware with no drilling.
SEPARATE PROTECTORS FOR EACH ERA
The 79 bonnet shape changed several times across production: 1984-1999 (round headlight era), 1999-2007 (HZJ79), 2007-2016 (early VDJ V8), 2016-2023 (late VDJ V8), and 2024 onward (GDJ facelift). Bonnet protectors are model-specific because the bonnet contour does not carry across these splits, so a 2024 facelift protector will not fit a 2010 VDJ, and vice versa. Each listing confirms exact year fitment. Often purchased alongside tinted weather shields and headlight protectors as a matched front-end protection package.
