The Freezebrain AC Amplifier is one of those upgrades that solves a problem 70 Series owners have complained about since the V8 era launched. The factory amplifier limits the evaporator temperature to around 6 to 7 degrees, which is not cold enough in a 40 degree Australian summer. The Freezebrain replaces the factory unit with a smarter controller that drops the evaporator temperature by a further 5 degrees, letting the AC dial down to around 1 degree for genuinely cold air. PLUG-AND-PLAY REPLACEMENT, FACTORY CONTROLS RETAINED

The Freezebrain replaces the factory AC amplifier behind the passenger-side speaker. Installation is unbolt the trim panel, unclip the factory unit, slide out, slide the Freezebrain in. The unit is 100 percent plug-and-play with no cutting, splicing, or rewiring. All factory AC controls and functionality are retained. The only thing that changes is that the AC actually gets cold. Diagnostic LEDs help identify air-conditioning faults. An idle-control switch keeps the engine idle slightly elevated when the compressor is off, which helps maintain alternator charge at idle with accessories running.

The Freezebrain is engineered for the VDJ V8 (1VD-FTV) and GRJ V6 petrol 70 Series built between 2007 and 2023, fitting the 76 Wagon, 78 Troop Carrier, and 79 single cab and dual cab. The unit replaces the factory part number 88650 60G20 on right hand drive vehicles.
