The 2024 GDJ facelift introduced a redesigned headlight housing with integrated LED projector optics. The unit is sharper, brighter, and significantly more expensive to replace than the older halogen housings. One unlucky stone strike on a gravel road cracks the lens, exposes the projector optics to dust and water, and creates a four-figure replacement bill. A headlight protector (also called a headlight cover, lamp cover, or headlight guard) sits in front of the lens and absorbs stone impacts before they reach the housing. On a vehicle that spends real time on unsealed roads or in convoys behind tippers and trailers, the protector pays for itself the first time it stops a stone that would have made it through.

Installation uses adhesive backing for a clean fitment with no drilling into the headlight housing. The lamp covers can be removed cleanly if the vehicle ever returns to stock condition.
