BRIGHTER LIGHTS FOR NIGHT DRIVING ON A 79

THE FACTORY OUTPUT WAS NEVER GOOD ENOUGH

The factory halogen headlights on a 79 Series have a single job and do it badly. The beam pattern is wide and unfocused, the colour temperature is dull yellow, and the output drops noticeably as the reflectors age and dull. Driving a stock 79 on unlit bush roads or outback highways at night is genuinely tiring. Your eyes work harder, you see less, and you drive slower because of it. A modern LED upgrade transforms the picture. Whiter light, sharper beam pattern, longer throw down the road, and a noticeable reduction in driver fatigue on long night drives. The first night you drive with proper LEDs fitted, you wonder why you waited.

PLUG-AND-PLAY GLOBE UPGRADES AND FULL HOUSING REPLACEMENTS

This collection covers two upgrade paths. Plug-and-play LED globe replacements drop into the existing factory housing. Pull the old halogen, plug the LED in, done. They use the factory wiring with no extra harness, draw less current, and last around 50,000 hours. Full replacement headlight units swap the entire factory housing for a modern projector-style assembly with a sharper cut-off, DRL strips, and integrated indicator function on some models. Both paths use existing mounting points and the original wiring. No cutting, no relay loom required on most models.

SEPARATE OPTIONS FOR EACH 79 GENERATION

The 79 used three different headlight housing designs across its production run. Round 7 inch sealed beams on early HZJs, rectangular composite housings on the VDJ79 V8, and the updated GDJ79 facelift housings from 2024. Each generation has its own LED upgrade path because the bulb base and housing dimensions differ. Each listing confirms exact year fitment so you know what suits your ute. Plug-and-play options come with H4 negative-switch harnesses where required on the 70 Series wiring.
